Seasons after the great Firestar of ThunderClan passed away, things began changing for the warrior cat Clans. The new leader of ShadowClan, Russetstar proved to be less aggressive than the fearsome Blackstar had been, and began to soften the darkened hearts of the ShadowClan cats. They began to hunt by the light of the moon all the time instead of during the day. ShadowClan then refused to go by that name, finding it not to fit their nature anymore, and instead called themselves, NightClan.

ThunderClan's territory was overtaken by twolegs that were intent on making a village by the lake, and Bramblestar retreated his warriors into the hills, and distant mountains. There, the cats began to evolve to survive the climate change, and their styles of hunting. So began MountainClan.

RiverClan's territory was soon flooded, and they retreated to the Gathering island, taking refuge there. When the flood ended, their territory was all marshland. When that all dried up, they were left with tiny rivers running throughout the territory. Finding no suitable place near them anymore, they found a gentle brook, shaded by the forest and surrounded by the flowing rivers to call home. They all became amazing swimmers as well as extra agile. They changed their Clan name to BrookClan instead.

WindClan met no true disaster, but they decided to be like the other Clans, and change their name to BreezeClan. The cats began getting traits similar to that of SkyClan, able to leap quite high as well as run fast.

And the new generation of warrior cats began...

New leaders arose in each Clan. Leader's name here of NightClan is said to be the most skilled fighter along with the best hunter and tracker. Caracalstar of MountainClan is said to have more stamina than any cat along with rock hard pads. Leafstar of BrookClan is said to be the most fiercely loyal to a cause as well as greatly agile and cunning. Autumnstar of BreezeClan can outrun any cat and snatch a bird a few feet up in the air. Such talents would be greatly beneficial to them in times to come.

Ever since Name became leader of NightClan, joining Caracalstar, Leafstar and Autumnstar, strange things have been happening to each of the Clans. Every night, an enemy cloaked in shadow and of unknown race enters BreezeClan camp and picks off kits right out of the nursery. NightClan's prey has all fled into the hills near their territory, for what reason they do not know. And starving, they begin to pick fights with BrookClan, their neighbours to get more prey. MountainClan's leaf-bares are the harshest they have ever faced, and the deadly black cough has returned.

Is StarClan angry? Or is some unseen enemy causing the sickness and plague throughout the land? Is BloodClan or the dog pack back? No one knows. But they know that to overcome this new challenge, they must unite as a team or else be brought down, and destroyed. Four massively talented leaders, four loyal deputies, four wise medicine cats, the fierce and proud warriors, the eager and devoted apprentices, the bouncy and lively kits, the protective and gentle queens, the knowing, ancient elders, some unexpected allies. Where will you come in?

For seasons upon season, three wise leaders have accordingly led their Clans in the will of StarClan. Autumnstar of BreezeClan, Caracalstar of MountainClan and Leafstar of BrookClan are all still young leaders, learning the traditions of their roles and Clans. Each Clan possesses their own talents and abilities, handed down through generations.

But prophecies begin telling of a new Clan, crafted out of the moon, and carried to earth by the stars. Puzzled, the three leaders meet in the Octagonal Clearing as the dreams request to meet this new Clan. The Clan appears, all carried down to the clearing as was foretold by the stars. Perplexed, the leaders welcome the new Clan, not knowing what to make of it. The Clan joins the originals in the forest, naming themselves NightClan. But the other Clan cats of BreezeClan, MountainClan and BrookClan are not happy with this. Conversations such as:
"What right to these cats have to just come in and take territory as they please?"
"Could it be StarClan, disguised, perhaps?"
"What could the leaders be thinking?"

Some cats decided to worship the new Clan, thinking they were StarClan come to live among them while others scorned the Clan. NightClan soon proved not to be StarClan for they did not favour the other Clans or act superior. But where could they have come from? Who are they? The stars offer no guidance, but the same prophecy keeps repeating the Clan medicine cats:

A Clan shall come, bathed in starlight
And borne upon the wind
Either possessing unifying might or shattering power
The stars shall not be the control
But the will of the Clans
What power do they possess; are they the same?
Time will tell

Soon, the other Clans began to find they had strange powers. While NightClan had the strange habit of reading the stars at night, BreezeClan became alert hunters, and could sense a twig snapping from ten meters away. MountainClan's fur became shaggy, and wind-proof along with their stamina being greatly increased as well as their paw pads. BrookClan became able to hold their breath for minutes at a time as well as be light-footed and graceful. They began to wonder why this was happening. And just as they began to settle into a normal life again, another prophecy was delivered.

Power possessed
Terrible and great
For use, it is mysterious
United, they shall stand firm
Singled, they shall be destroyed
Over a common enemy

And with horror, the Clans discovered the meaning of their powers. A terrible drought swept the land, and when it ended, BrookClan's territory was a dried up land with little puddles, and a pond where the brook had been. The trees in NightClan territory were yellow, and dying. MountainClan territory was dry, and dusty. BreezeClan's territory had sharp, stubble grass that was yellow and droopy.

Cats began to die of thirst and constant hunger. And with dead, and decay everywhere, the birds came. First in flocks, then in mobs. Cats were dive-bombed if they attempted to leave their camps, and BreezeClan was especially vulnerable. BreezeClan began helping the other Clans by calling alerts whenever they heard birds coming. Using their sensitive hearing skills, they were useful for other Clans. In return, NightClan offered them a limited portion of their territory to camp and escape the flocks.

Skinny and bony from lack of water and food, the Clans gathered in the Octagonal Clearing for a Gathering, under the glare of full sunshine, too tired to attend that night. They discussed their options, and agreed that their Clans would die if they didn't get water soon. They decided to send a group of cats to scout nearby areas for suitable territory. They never returned. Soon after, the leaders realized with horror that they had judged to quickly.

The rains came, starting with great torrential floods. At first, the Clans were delighted, but then the floods came. The territories were constantly soaked with water, up to the cats underbellies - sometimes even their shoulders. MountainClan offered refuge on their mountain home, while BrookClan became the rescue crew, diving to help drowning cats and using their ability to hold their breath for a long time.

Once this disaster happened, it was already half moon. Without hesitation, the medicine cats made haste to reach the Moonshed Cavern, and share dreams with StarClan. The only reply they got was, "United, they shall stand firm; Singled, they shall be destroyed." It was a line from the prophecy. Returning to their Clans, the medicine cats tried to make sense of it. During the recent disasters, the Clans had offered their help to each other. With a start, the medicine cats realized that the Clans had indeed been united by a common enemy. Pleased, StarClan allowed the Clans to live on in peace for some time longer, warning them to continue to live unified or else risk being thrust into disaster.
